Sam was Prime Minister of Grasmere Valley on two separate occasions. His adoptive mother is that of the very strict Mary Bishop and he is currently married to Mel. He was also seen as a source of inspiration for many in the country.

Early Life[]

Born in London and put up for adoption and is ended up being adopted by Mary Bishop the town librarian and known to moan at everyone for not being quiet. This is rather striking but she looks after Sam and makes sure he grows up well. Sam soon has an interest wanting to go into politics. He wants to become the first black Prime Minister, something that even Mary laughed at. However he soon with his lovely manner and fresh air approach to politics gets elected as MP not too long before David Johnson (Mel's husband) became the first black Prime Minister in the UK. When he was assassinated Sam was among the nation who grieved. Grainger Styles took over managed to stabilise the country during such times but when he announced he would not run again Sam ran with having two vice prime ministers Hal Grant and Joshua Wilde and managed to become Prime Minister.

All the while this was happening he never forgot his real home was Grasmere Valley and took steps to see the power base be at Grasmere Valley as well as London s he could remain the town he loved and grew up.

Volume 1[]

He is among those listed as a citizen of Gramsere Valley from Volume 1 living with one of his vice Prime Minister Joshua Wilde.

He along with James Dontos the town's mayor are seen leading the meeting to decide which four of the town would run the Olympic torch through the town during the opening of the London 2012 games. Sam is really not happy that Wilma Timber is at the meeting who wants put herself up as one of the people with the torch and he keeps reminder her she was only at the meeting because her husband Patrick Timber was there. In the end it was decided that Pat, Tracy Etheridge, Mr Ambrose and Kevin Kennedy.

Volume 2[]

He is seen at the town hall as the town are watching their hero John Strawberry going into space, even though in fact he was not going to space but was running off trying to marry Carry Parker and making everyone think he is in space.

Sam is also seen at a major function welcoming back Queen Constance and Grieog from her travels in Africa when Marvelle the great cake thief manages to steal the cake made by Mary Bishop for the event. Sam is the one who discover this has happened as his mother is distraught that her cake has been stolen.

Tony Taylor mentions how he managed to find his cuff links.

The Tales of Grasmere Valley at Christmas[]

Sam is seen with James Dontos doing a speech just before turning on the town Christmas lights.

When the surprise one last Christmas day is made for Joel Hewitt who has terminal cancer, it is joked how he had more presents thant the Prime Minister to which Joel sis rather happy over. Sam is there but one does not know his feelings about this.

Volume 3[]

Sam Bishop and James Dontos are among the guests there for Brad Hewitt's surprise party. The two together stand up during the event with Sam on behalf of the town spoke about over the sadness of the town losing Joel Hewitt but that there could be comfort in knowing he is now in heaven, which such a loving speech causes many tears in the town hall where the party is taking place.

When the tourists Lexia Xing-Jung and Lee Xing-Jung after everything they have been through decide to be citizens in Grasmere Valley, Sam Bishop and James Dontos are both there to give them an official welcome to the town.

The Tales of Grasmere Valley in Summer Time[]

Tessa Crab moves to live with Sam Bishop and Joshua Wilde, as she is becoming a rising star in politics and moves into the town.

He is among those leading the talk as to what to do with Aggy Nickels estate which she left for the entire town which is a large sum. In the end they decide to all go on a World cruise together.

Volume 4[]

Sam is seen leading the discussion on what to do to stop the hooliganism that has resulted from the new University students soon after the University has opened. Among those in the meeting to solve the problem were Tessa Crab, Zar, Gary Robinson, James Dontos, Ralph Mason, Zar, Buck Felton and Daisy. Buck Felton and Frances Greenbells managed to track down that it was all down by Lord Puckering and his family when they tried to attack the grocery store. With them discovering what they had done, not wanting their names to be ruined by the scandal they pay the money for the repairs in the grocery store, a new car and money £16 Million to charity. The Prime Minister Sam Bishop finding this suspicious calls in Buck and Frances as he says he doesn't approve of their blackmail which had happened but is happy with the results and asks to get a ride in Buck's new car much to the duo's shock which they agree to do so.

Sam is also among those to reveal the true scandalous nature of Mr Gardiner and Chase Gardiner in a public event at the town hall with Ralph Mason leading the charge. As Mr Gardiner disowns his son and tries to leave, Sam is among those that causes him not to and he and Chase end up getting arrested due to them tying up Mrs Gardiner and trying to blow her up to not reveal the truth.

Volume 5[]

The town ends up being captured by Mr Grasmere and Mrs Grasmere and they hold the town in hostage as they took over as it is all part of elaborate plot to get their friend Mr Gardiner free from prison. Sam Bishop and James Dontos as Prime Minister and Mayor are called up by Mr Grasmere and Mrs Grasmere to discuss what rights they supposedly have for the town. The two are not happy with this and try to protest them from taking over the land over this supposed heritage they have but this falls on deaf ears and it turns out the connection is fake and part of the plan to free Mr Gardiner.

As the turmoil is happening in Grasmere Valley his name is dropped by the Houston Brothers when playing Family Affair against the Royal Family who mention they know what is going on with the town.

He is seen at Mr Grasmere and Mrs Grasmere event of wanting to send a message to the town they have captured with having crocodiles about to eat those who tried to go against the town. At the end after everyone is free and Mrs Grasmere and Mr Grasmere are eating by the crocodiles, James Dontos ask him if they can round up all the prisoners so they can go back to prison which Sam confirms that they can. he is also seen hugging Ed Robinson one of the people who was free from the net.

Volume 6[]

He has been involved with the issue of Mr Gerrow Tontine when Rachel Red whose husband was listed and was killed as a result of someone trying to get their hands on the Tontine goes to see Sam being the Prime Minister hoping he would place her on the Tontine in the place of her husband. Sam refuses and Rachel forgetting they were on a the top floor decided to jump out of the window and then try to sue them. Instead, she ends up falling to her death.

Sam tags along in Judge Fielder's great plan of tracking down those responsible for murdering John Red to try and get their hands on the Tontine which turns out to be Devlin, Lindsey Ferguson and Eileen Ferguson getting them to confess and they are put on prison. Daisy allows her hairdressers for all those involved to talk about their plan. She put glass in the road for the van that the three are in with the kidnapped Dina Obed is in, to break it down near the gas station for Jack Etheridge and Juno try to pretend to try and kill them to get them to confess which takes place. Dina is also rescued by the team. The Tontine despite everything is still legally binding with not even the Prime Minister Sam Bishop not being able to do anything to stop it. Which means Johann, Adam Robinson, Lulu Taylor and Dina Obed are the only ones left with many believing that Johann will win it.

Volume 7[]

Isaac moves into the house of power as well as he becomes a useful lackey to be used by Tessa Crab when she needs him

He is expecting a meeting with the US President Michael Novak a staunch Democrat looking to observe how the town is doing due to the antics it has gone on there. Chez Young is there trying to help him out to be a presentable as possible as well as his very bossy and demanding Mary Bishop. He believes all his team will be there but in the end by his horror the likes of Sue Latterbin and Ted Fed showing Michael around the town hall. He is clearly not impressed with the sights he saw and ends up meeting with Sam Bishop with Sue, Ted as well as Mary Bishop and Chez Young in their presence. They were supposed to have a private meeting but in the end Michael in front of them threatens to go to war on Grasmere Valley over the Conservative nature of the town on issues such like abortion. Everyone is shocked and long for Sam not to give in but Sam feeling he has no choice decides there and then to resign from being Prime Minister thereby opening up the position and in his eyes avoid war with the US.

Sam retires to Rose Park Heights having a very teary sending off by the entire town, before there is a scramble for his old items at his office to be sold on Ebay by Barney Butcher, Dan Butcher, Judo and Poison. When Judo and Poison get the items, Barney and Dan decide to go to Poundland to get items to say they came from Sam.

Volume 8[]

He is listed as a citizen of Grasmere Valley in this volume but this is a mere formality as he has left the town. As a result of him stepping down the elections take place and Mr Gardiner and Julie end up becoming Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister respectively.

The Tales of Grasmere Valley at Eurovision[]

Pamela Thornton remarks how she hopes the new Prime Minister Mr Logan will resign and she wants Sam Bishop to return as prime minister which she explains to Kelly-Anne Davis as he finds him so sexy.

Volume 14[]

Mel no longer working alongside Sam Bishop as Vice Prime Minister but with Mr Logan she has no connection to Mr Logan unlike that of Sam Bishop.

With the issue of abortion wanting to be extended to up until birth, Mr Logan is being persuaded by the likes of Edward Morley Junior, Edward Morley Senior, Victoria Morley who want to trick Jane Mabel who was raped by Edward Morley Junior to get rid of the baby and the evidence of Edward's disgraceful act. There are those such as Mr Logan who is swaying to that side, Mel who is not sure but Ted Logan and Simon Logan are pro life. They end up with Amiee Cyprus seeing Sam Bishop who reveals his devotion to the cause of pro life and wanting to do anything to destroy the bill. Sadly the bill goes through and it even allows for babies after being born to be killed in a centre determined abortion centre. The plan of the Morleys with the help of Ladonna Palmer and none other than Simon Logan to trick Jane to go to a made up facility is foiled just in time with all those involved arrested. This includes the prime minister Mr Logan and the abortion police reverts back to it's original state. Sam Bishop, Mel and Mr Logan appeared on the scene after the event to found out what had happened and with Ladonna revealing all Sam and Mel are among those shocked by the betrayal.

Following the issues with the Morleys and Mr Logan, Sam Bishop with Mr Logan being placed in prison Sam now has the opportunity to become a Prime Minister again. However in order to do so, Sam Bishop's decides to compromise on his pro life convictions much to the dismay of Jane Mabel, Daisy and others who saw him as a great fighter of abortion especially when he was not in office. He tries to make the understand but they cannot but throw this compromise he returns to become Prime Minister.

Volume 15[]

With him returning to office he comes back to Grasmere Valley and lives in Midwoodcote.

The Tales of Grasmere Valley and the Death of Daisy[]

He is seen at the funeral of Daisy giving out programmes with James Dontos. During the funeral Daisy walks having come back from holiday very confused and soon all is revealed and Daisy is a live and well.

Volume 17[]

When the town is need of £62 Million in for the town refurbishment which is in need of repairs, Sam and Tessa Crab decide to try and get a concert going to raise the money thinking with the government backing and big named celebrities that it will raise money. Nearly all the celebrities and people with talents they ask refuse to do it for various reasons however Darcy is the only one who accepts. On the day Tessa requests for Darcy to close her eyes throughout her performance to add authenticity to the performance. It seems to work as the crowd goes wild and a re throwing flowers at her. Darcy is elated. When Tessa and Darcy leave after the performance it is strangely quiet and Darcy wonders how everyone left so early. Tessa brushes it off but the truth is only Lona Surville for a penny came to the show and wanting Darcy to give the show so they could have that penny, they had her close her eyes and have the crowd cheering from back in the day when Darcy was a big star. Even after that only Tessa stayed to the end with Lona and Sam Bishop leaving half way through.

Volume 23[]

He finally gets married to Mel who had also been running for Vice Prime Minister during his second time in office and also during Mr Logan.

Mary Bishop mentions how she had tried to get Sam to talk about reintroducing the death penalty in the country but it never happens.

Volume 26[]

There is an ongoing protest of The Fifth Way cult taking people away from the town with many wanting answers. Sam insists they are doing everything they can to bring them home but the crowd aren't satisfied. Lois Star comes to the town escaping from the cult, she reveals the terrible things The Fifth Way cult have done including calling her Jezebel and Daisy from hearing what Lois is saying believes they are about to commit suicide. Sam is not sure this is the case initially but soon enough he along with James Dontos allow a rescue mission with Del and Jack Jackson. James, Sam along with those concerned go to where the encampment of The Fifth Way cult. Jack Jackson tries to calm the others down but it ends gravely with Del's rash action causing for those in the cult to commit mass suicide with some being rescued but for a great catastrophe happening.

Volume 27[]

Sam and Mel get married with Ric whom Mel had been with been put in prison as it was revealed that he got Mel's first husband David Johnson a previous Prime Minister assassinated.

Sam Bishop and James Dontos are among those leading the meeting investigating how The Fifth Way cult as handled. During the meeting Pauline, demands for James and Sam to be removed from their posiition due to their mishandling of the situation. Tessa Crab ever the opportunist decides to capitalise on the situation with her husband who she did not care for being among the vicctims to announce herself running for Prime Minister. Michelle Novak also wanting the mayor role again decides to run again James Dontos and it is agreed a snap election for both position to be made.

When a snap election was called for between Tessa Crab and Sam Bishop, Sam desperate to know the results decided against his better judgement to go and see Mother of Chaos, the YouTube sensation who is big in the NAR movement and is growing in popularity for a prediction in the future. Mel, his wife and his adopted mother Mary Bishop both advice him against this as they see her as a crackpot and dangerous. It is clear however that Mary Bishop does not like Mel taken her son away in marriage. With them Crystal Meth, Mother of Chaos neighbour and fellow NAR adherent, Jonelle Dobson Sam's Secretary and Camian Pujoe all go to see Mother of Chaos. Mother of Chaos invites them in and as soon as she starts talking Mary Bishop cannot stand her shrill nature of talking.

Mother of Chaos is spouting useless vague religious phrases which causes for the likes of Mary and Mel to be frustrated. Camian wants to find out about the future of his marriage to Audrey Reynolds which she keeps saying was doomed which Crystal Meth when Camian wants more information ends up shouting at Camian for him to realise the marriage is doomed. Eventually Mother of Chaos declares that Sam will win as the prophecy says. Sam is reassured however it is clear Mother of Chaos is in this for money as she gets £250. As they leave Sam is convinced he won't lose however Mother of Chaos is seen wanna bet and is seen cackling. 

PK Simmons is seen with his nephew PJ Simmons who is about to put in a law suit against Donald Trump for making billionaires look bad, when Sam Bishop comes requesting for PK to vocalise his support for Sam. PK refuses unless Sam promises him money his projects otherwise he declares he'll destroy Sam. Sam points out he has loads of money for such projects but PK declares that he needs more. Soon reveals his plans are to create an alternative reality, his own chocolate factory, round the world car race championship, a cruise liner which could fit on the entire world on, a tower of babel to reach heaven, a piano that can move like a car, a never ending Enya concert, a class plane and a fire park. Sam is shocked but desperate he relents.

PK does a video advert lending his support as he feels people will vote whatever he vote as he is still out of touch as to how connected he was to society. He mentions the plans he has if Sam Bishop wins but also declares that if he is voting for him everyone should to. It is clear Daisy, Janet Herman, Kelly Barbour and Loretta watching his report are not convinced by it at all! He also says for anyone who votes for Sam he will give them a free PK Simmons calendar.

His popularity continues to plummet when Thomas Edmound Jason having working on Sam Bishop campaign trail, he fainted when he realised he had to work with Sam!

In the end much to Sam shock and Mel's disappointment Tessa won with the narrowest margins ever as she ends up beating Sam Bishop.

Volume 28[]

Following Tessa Crab winning the election, Kevin Davis during a meeting at church is disputing with Nigel Crump as he says to put his faith and trust in God as opposed to politicians as the town had in the past few years been through many Prime Ministers which Kevin list's which included Sam Bishop and both his time he was Prime Minister.

When Don Kennedy is stuttering through the notices, Sam Bishop helps clarify that Mama is speaking at the Women's Fellowship.

He is among those who was falsely reported by Madame Neptune to be dead during the holding hostage of the business block.

The Tales of Grasmere Valley Let's Go Racing[]

PJ Simmons is among those in the crowd when Shauna White announces the Grasmere Valley is going to have a Grand Prix. When PK Simmons is shown to be among those supporting the racers he says it is more of a useful endeavour than the time he was campaigning for Sam Bishop to be elected as Prime Minister and they would get a calendar of him in return.

He is referenced by Catherine Lorna when she is firing Jill Valentine when Charlene Moray claimed she had the power to fire people like with Madame Neptune and Catherine reminded Charlene that it was Sam who fired Madame Neptune not Charlene and Jill as a result is fired by Catherine.

Episode 5 When the Prime Minister Comes to town []

When Nanny Prescot’s house has been chosen for a visit by the Prime Minister to ask the public about their views on politic the entire gang go crazy, arranging the house and getting excited for the visit. With each of them when Sam Bishop the Prime Minister comes each one by one manage to make a fool of themselves with either their suggestions or the way they act. In the end when the TV crew gets there its Katrina, the cleaner who helped them tidy the house who has the interview on television with Sam. Despite this the next day thanks to Sheneque a scandal is broken how Sam had lied about the house that he was visiting being Katrina’s and that he had deliberately excluded Nanny Prescot’s family.

Episode 10 The Easter Play []

Sam is among those hoping to watch The Easter Play. It ends up being cancelled due to Ms Izodel who wrote a very blasphemous and in poor taste play being locked up so she couldn't come on and PJ Simmons instead gave a gospel message.

Episode 15 How Do You Solve a Problem Like Ladonna Palmer?[]

Ladonna Palmer comes back to Grasmere Valley and due to her hatred of the entire town; she has decided to sue everyone she knows including Nanny Prescot, Sam Bishop, James Dontos, Dr Nathan Jones and even the Queen. The Prescot family try to hire Tony Taylor as a body guard to keep an eye out for Ladonna Palmer as she threaten to come back to the town but at that time they didn’t know what capacity. She soon turns up when the gang are at school with Tony Taylor and are served law suits and Tony is fired as a bodyguard. Soon the trial goes to Judge Judy and the case is thrown out after it seemed she sued virtually everyone she knew for wrongful dismissal from her job as a hospital resident which was partly made due to Nanny Prescot claiming that she stole her purse, which she did. Soon Judy throws the case out.

Season 2[]

Episode 2 Bigotries Coming To Town[]

Nanny Prescot and the family are seen going to the town hall trying to get Sam Bishop to stop worrying about Ebola and to worry about the character assassination Jon Stewart was bent on doing in his show.Sam Bishop is among those filmed by Jon Stewart's segment Dumbiest Towns looking to belittle the town as being backward and then he ends up airing a heavily edited version. He had lied to them saying he was doing a documentary.

Episode 7 It's Been a Year[]

Sam is among those that end up celebrating the first anniversary of The Devon Show.

Episode 9 Let it Go[]

Zeba has taken a bank hostage and demands to talk to the Prime Minister. When he gets on the phone to Sam Bishop he demands all the Frozen merchandise to be confiscated much to the delight of Nanny Prescot. However when asked if he was serious, about to shoot Champaine, he ends up shooting Abdul McGray. The request is fulfilled but Zeba is then arrested

Episode 6 Political Pawn[]

Senator Hyeman who is running for the Presidency in America, he comes to Grasmere Valley for an odd visit making relations already with Sam Bishop, the prime minister of England as well as with Nanny Prescot. As he visits however his life is attempted on by a right wing nut spewing out how much he hated Hyeman’s liberal agenda. This greatly increases his popularity and Nanny Prescot gets offended when everyone asks about the Senator’s life and doesn’t care that her life was nearly threatened. Soon enough Nanny Prescot firmly believes this was a set up just to gain more points in the polls. Everyone dismisses this however when The Gunman turns up after fleeing prison begging for someone to believe him that he as homeless man was paid by Hyeman to attempt to kill him and say things against liberalism just so to further his agenda. Senator Hyeman turns up after giving a rip roaring speech as he is pretty sure he will get the Whitehouse. However he manages to let slip on air that it was all set up and soon enough Senator Hyeman is arrested and drops out of the race.

Season 5[]

Episode 1 Wake[]

In the aftermath of the Fifth Way Cult mass suicide and the carnage that it ensured, Charlene Moray who is still running the department in London and has influence over the Grasmere Valley police station decides with Sam Bishop the Prime Minister and James Dontos the Mayor due to Del's very bad leadership to fire him and to give his job to Jack Jackson who was seen being a great negotiator during the crisis. Del is shocked as is his wife Del's Wife and both vow revenge on the town.

Episode 16 The End of Devon[]

Sam Bishop is among those at the hospital when Nanny Prescot had a heart attack of which she ends up making a full recovery. The magnitude of Nanny Prescot reach can be seen with Sam Bishop former Prime Minister there a guy who once had shut out Nanny Prescot was now at her bedside wishing she would be able to make it. He is also seen among the many singing at the wedding of Billy Santiamo and Laura Bright for the finale of the show.

He is referenced when Mary Bishop remarks she does not want to adopt a child again when talking about Darnella dropping of her son Carlshawton to the library wanting someone to look after her.

Ted Fed reading the winner of the election when Tessa Crab is facing Sam Bishop is referenced as Ted Fed is hired to take the place of T.J in the news room for PK Simmons due to part of this previous experience working in election, although it is pointed out he thought he was announcing the winner of the X Factor.

Episode 168 Word on the Street[]

Mary Bishop reveals she lost interest in politics ever since her son was no longer Prime Minister. She also recalls how she warned Sam he would lose in his last election but how he did not listen as he was too busy listening to Mother of Chaos and lost with Tessa Crab winning.

Episode 173 A Spaceman Came Travelling[]

The time that Mother of Chaos attempted to predict that Sam Bishop would win the election but failed with Tessa Crab grabbing it is recalled by Nanny Prescot and Daisy when Zadok who claims to be a time traveller claims to know who win the current election.

Episode 206 First Family[]

Nanny Prescot wonders when there is a new Prime Minister if it will be Sam again which James Dontos says it is not, Nanny Prescot says it's good he should have a rest. Turns out the new Prime Minister is Mehilia Harrods.
