The raft is sinking and they have to decide who to throw off the raft. Rochelle is on a mission to assassinate Malcolm. They all make their pleas as to why they need to be saved. Malcolm realising what is happening before Rochelle strikes he offers up his life and decides to jump into the sea so that the others can be saved and hope through his actions they will truly understand the gospel that just as he gave his life so they would live, Christ did the same.

When she is stranded during the special report conducted by Emily begging for any information about the missing eight, Designated Complainer Shirley who is also there during the report complains about Rochelle saying she is assassin and why she felt she needed to have a one word name. When Emily shouts at Shirley for her complaining and reminding her that they were trying to encourage people to give information to rescue them as they maybe in danger Designated Complainer Shirley said they shouldn't bother with them. Emily reminds her they have loved ones who want them back and says if Designated Complainer Shirley went missing no one would miss her as they would love the peace and quiet that had finally come into their life. In the end interview was axed and after the failure of the appeal the matter evaded many in the town's minds.

After many months the raft arrives on the shore of Largas, and all but Malcolm are found alive. While Darrick and Ben seems to be grateful for Malcolm's sacrifice, the other's are not grateful at all. On Christmas day Benjamin Harper who Malcolm had mentored ends up taking the gospel proclamation portion of the church. Benjamin has found it very difficult that his friend Malcolm who is godly died but those who did not care about Malcolm's sacrifice are still alive. Benjamin uses this as how Jesus gave his life but we often don't appreciate this. Judy is very offended as she declares as she had done on the raft to Darrick she is not a sinner and calls for Gary Robinson the pastor to chastise him. Gary reveals Judy hardly goes to church except for Easter and Christmas shattering the perfect church image she gives to herself. Benjamin finishes his sermon but doesn't know how it went but knows that if Malcolm heard it he would of been proud of the gospel he preached.

Rochelle and Candid Candy move away from Grasmere Valley at the end of Volume 33.
